Add Articles
Articles are added using a wizard method. You are directed through a number of pages to capture the information that is required. The example below covers adding content that has the Standard Content Format that was discussed in the introductory section of the user guide
Title and Introduction
Adding the content is straightforward. Enter appropriate text in the Article Title field and select a Category if the article belongs to a sub-category and use the Introduction editor to create a short introduction to the article.
Some site designs encompass an article thumbnail, you can enter an image in the thumbnail box below.
The Next button saves the information and will progress your article development to the next page
Body text
The next page allows you to enter the detail of the document. Using the WYSIWYG editor you can format your text, add images and links and use tables to get precise control of you format. You can create columns by simply creating a table inwhich to insert your text.
The Next button saves the information and will progress your article development to the next page
Article Dates
The final page contains the dates that the article is to be available and also the search keywords and description.
Dates are entered using the calendar and include a time component.
- If you want the article to be live once it is published and to never expire, you do not need to change the date.
- If you want the article to show at a future date, just change the 'Available from' date
- if you want the article to expire at a certain date just set the 'Available until' date.
Search Information
Enter words that relate to your article in the 'Keywords field' These will be used for the internal site search and also as Page specific Meta Tags for external Search engines.
The 'Search Description' field allows you to enter a brief description of the article. This will be used, in addition to article title, when the article shows up in the search results list.
Click next to save the information to the database and return to the Administration homepage.

Special Article Types
It is expected that the content of the majority of content groups will use the Standard Content Format but three variations on this standard are worth noting.
Downloads/Publications
The Downloads or publications type of content group associates a file with the article content, either by using an external link to a file (entered in the introduction screen) or as an uploaded file once the article has been written. For example, the article content may be a case study and the associated file for download a printable version of the case study.
Once the article has been written the wizard takes you to an additional screen that prompts you for the file. The Browse button will open a file browser window that allows you to select a file from your local machine. The Next button will initiate the file upload onto the web server and associate the file with your article.
Please note that large files (greater than 2 megabytes in size) are not typically copied to the web server very efficiently and may fail altogether. Large files should be managed in another manner.
As the file is loaded onto the web server its size and type are identified. On some sites the type of file is restricted for security reasons (for example some sites will not allow executable files to be uploaded). Please be patient as files are uploaded to the web server, this is quite an intensive process and subject to delays that are inherent on the Internet, such as you connection upload speed.
Events
This content group allows you to manage scheduled events, it is the same as the standard content group format except that it allows you to add the dates of the event in the introduction screen, The article will automatically be set to expire after the event, and will show the event time in the article page on the site.
Links
The links content group adds to additional fields to the introduction screen of the article.
'Link type' allows you select http ( most standard webpages) https ( secure webpages) or ftp ( file transfer protocal for linking to files on an ftp site).
