Administration System

The administration system of the Messagepac™ website is designed to provide you with simple access to the functions that you wish to perform.

The access is secured by password and makes use of a similar hierarchy based on the role that you wish to perform as an administrator.

Logging In

The webmaster can log in to the administration system either by using the site login function (normally a link on the top left of the page - dependant on your site design) or when attempting to access the administration system without having first logged in.

The system will present a simple form such as this:

Login Screen

The standard login screen is available from the web address:

www.yourdomain.com/login

And may also be available from a menu item on the home page.
Enter the webmaster username and password and click Next.

Role Based Administration

The administration system has been defined around roles or functions to create a logical route into the actions that you will take as a site administrator.  The fundamental roles are:

  • Author
The Author role is responsible solely for creating new content.

  • Editor
The Editor is responsible for modifying authored content, setting the permissions to define its audience and setting where in the website the content is to be visible.

  • Webmaster
The webmaster role performs the main site administration but also has the capability to modify text that is more generally static on the site such as the introductory text for a content group. He also has access to the User manager and advanced tools such as search engine positioning.

Following Presented Options

Throughout the administration site you will be presented with options to either provide access to another menu or to a screen that performs a function on the website.  To gain access to the options please use the Go To … link that is presented.

Breadcrumbs

Once you have started to navigate into a section of the administration site the top left of the screen displays breadcrumbs.  This is a small menu system that shows you where you have come in the menu hierarchy.
